What Makes a Good Business Card?

Raquel Renner, C.I.D.’s Director of Membership, was emailing with Lindsay Machado when Raquel took notice of Lindsay’s business card, which was included in the signature area of her emails.

Raquel thought the card was so nicely done she thought it should be shared with you. Raquel likes the clean layout of her contact info and the logos indicating her certifications and affiliations (extra points for listing C.I.D. first!).

But the best part is the photo of Lindsay with her beautiful smile, which exudes the grace and joy that define her design business. The coffee service behind her and mug next to her convey a relaxed, welcoming attitude.

Well done, Lindsay!

What makes a good business card?

Business cards are opportunities to make good first impressions on potential customers. For interior decorators, you want that first impression to be a good visual first impression, so bring your knowledge of color and space to the design of your card.

Naturally, you want your card to convey the most important information potential customers need to know about you, including your name, company, contact info, and website. You want that info to be clear and easy to read.

Finally, take advantage of the opportunity to build brand awareness and identity via your business card. Note how many times Lindsay uses “Designed with Grace and Joy,” yet the design is uncluttered. The overall look of the card is bright and optimistic and the photo of Lindsay speaks volumes about her brand.

Please email an image of your business card to Raquel@cidinternational.org if you’d like to share your card design and provide some inspiration to fellow members.

WELCOME BACK, C.I.D. MEMBER!
